Kheda dairy unit fined for selling adulterated ghee; 3,100 kg seized

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) took action against a trader for ghee adulteration by raiding Shri Kshem Kalyani Milk and Milk Products in Kheda district on Wednesday.
During the raid, officials collected three samples and seized 3,100 kg of adulterated products worth ₹8.75 lakh. Gujarat FDCA Commissioner H.G. Koshia stated that the unit was located in the Talpad area of Nadiad taluka. Suspecting adulteration, officials collected a ghee sample from a 15kg can of the ‘Shri Kalyani’ brand.
Authorities confiscated 1,500 kg of ghee, 1,600 kg of butter and oil, and 1 litre of ghee flavouring. To prevent further adulteration, the FDCA suspended the firm’s FSSAI licence with immediate effect.
Additionally, the Kheda additional resident collector has imposed a ₹2 lakh fine on the trader, Koshia added.
