Ahmedabad set to host 11th Asian Swimming Championship from Oct 1-15
March 21, 2025
Ahmedabad: India will host the 11th Asian Swimming Championship at Naranpura Sports Complex in the city from October 1 to 15, marking the first-ever edition of the event in the country. Swimmers from Japan and South Korea are expected to compete in the continental tournament, the national federation announced on Thursday.
Swimming Federation of India Secretary-General Monal Chokshi stated that the Gujarat government and Asia Aquatics have given in-principle approval, with the MoU expected to be finalized by March or mid-April. The last international swimming event hosted by India was the 2019 Asian Age Group Championships.
The championship will feature swimming, diving, artistic swimming, and water polo. Ahmedabad’s Naranpura Sports Complex, set for completion next month, is being developed as an Olympic-standard venue, strengthening the city’s role in India’s 2036 Olympic bid. The national junior championship will serve as a test event for the Asian Championship. DeshGujarat
