Passengers point out several issues with Udan Yatri Cafe at SVPI Ahmedabad airport

Ahmedabad: There are several issues with a newly opened Udan Cafe at SVPI airport in Ahmedabad, such its location outside the security area, long queues anytime at the counter and no digital payment service. Though the government’s intensions are good and this cafe is like blessings as it offers snacks for just Rs. 20, the execution of this initiative is poor.

A newly opened cafe at Ahmedabad’s domestic departure terminal 1, the Udaan Yatri Cafe, is drawing long lines for its budget-friendly offerings, and passengers are wishing for deployment of more persons at the counter and expansion of this cafe outlet. The cafe is facing criticism for its cash-only policy. The cafe, which opened last Friday, offers tea, coffee, and snacks at very low prices, attracting a large number of passengers. However, the cafe’s insistence on cash payments is causing inconvenience to many, who are demanding the introduction of online payment options.

“I tried to pay for my coffee and samosas with my phone, but they told me they only accept cash,” said a passenger traveling from the domestic airport. “It’s a hassle to carry cash these days, and I hope they introduce online payments soon.”

The cafe’s popularity is evident from the long lines during peak hours. Passengers are also suggesting that the cafe be relocated to the security hold area, which would make it more convenient for those waiting for delayed flights.

“It would be great if the cafe was located after security,” said a passenger. “That way, we could grab a quick bite or drink while waiting for our flight.”

The Udaan Yatri Cafe offers tea, water bottles, and other items for just Rs. 10, while coffee, sweet item and samosas are available for Rs. 20. The cafe’s budget-friendly prices are a major draw for passengers, but the cash-only policy is proving to be a major inconvenience. Udan Yatri cafe at Ahmedabad airport is third in the country. Earlier such cafes were opened at Kolkata and Chennai. The cafe at Ahmedabad airport is the first being operated by private party. DeshGujarat
