Bhavnagar: The transportation of raw milk via sea route on the Ghogha-Hazira Ro-Ro ferry began on Saturday, with Mahi Dairy sending a total of 30,000 liters of milk to Surat.
On this occasion, N.D.D.B. Chairman Minesh Shah stated that the dairy will save around ₹1 crore annually by reducing transport time and fuel costs. In return, consumers will receive high-quality milk. He also announced plans to deliver milk to Mumbai by water in the coming days.
Mahi Dairy utilized the Hazira-Ghogha Ro-Ro ferry service for this transportation. The dairy chairman described the event as historic, emphasizing that sending milk to South Gujarat via water will not only save time and reduce transportation costs but also lower carbon emissions, benefiting the environment. He further highlighted that Mahi Dairy has started using solar power systems at milk collection centers, milk cooling centers, and feed factories. This shift to renewable energy has significantly contributed to reducing carbon emissions, reinforcing the dairy’s commitment to environmental sustainability. DeshGujarat
