February 25, 2025
Palanpur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today nabbed a deputy collector and his accomplice in Palanpur for accepting a bribe of ₹3,00,000. The accused, Imran Khan Bismilla Khan Nagori, Planning Assistant (in-charge Office Superintendent), and Ankitaben Babulal Ojha, Deputy Collector, both posted at the Stamp Duty Assessment Authority Office, District Seva Sadan-2, were caught red-handed.
According to the ACB, the complainant’s friend had constructed houses on two of his plots without paying stamp duty. To reduce the stamp duty and expedite the issuance of a revised challan, Imran Khan demanded a bribe of ₹1,50,000 for one house and ₹3,00,000 for two houses at the behest of Ankitaben Ojha.
The complainant refused to pay the bribe and approached the ACB, which, based on his complaint, laid a trap. During the operation, Imran Khan accepted the bribe money and handed it over to Ankitaben Ojha in her chamber. Both officials, having misused their positions as public servants and engaged in criminal misconduct, were caught on the spot and subsequently arrested. DeshGujarat
