Major setback for Congress, as it fails to win even a single seat in Anklav Municipality election
February 18, 2025
Anand: The main opposition Congress party could not win even a single seat in Anklav Municipality election, results of which were declared today. This is a major setback for Congress as Anklav is represented by Amit Chavda in the State assembly. Chavda is former State Congress chief and presently serves as the leader of Congress party in the assembly.
Interestingly, the voters elected 14 independent candidates in 24-seat Anklav municipality. BJP won 10 seats here. State BJP chief CR Patil told media persons that those elected as independents are with BJP and therefore BJP would form ruling body in Anklav.
It’s worth noting that even when BJP won 156 of 182 seats in the State assembly elections in 2022, it could not win Anklav seat against Congress. Now when Anklav has completely stayed away Congress in local polls, it’s considered very notable. In two other municipal elections at Boriyavi and Od in Anand district, BJP has emerged victorious. Congress has won zero seat in 7 municipalities. However Anklav being one of them is a matter of surprise for the party. DeshGujarat
