January 06, 2025
Diu: In a shocking case of extortion, Diu Police have arrested two individuals, Sanjay Rathod and Altamas Mansuri, for honey trapping hotel customers at Keshav Hotel in Diu. The duo allegedly used secret cameras to record intimate encounters between their female accomplice and unsuspecting guests, later extorting money from them by showing the footage.
According to police sources, Rathod and Mansuri had been carrying out this illegal operation for the past five months. The pair would set up hidden cameras in hotel rooms and send a woman to engage in sexual activities with the customers. Afterward, the customers would be shown the recorded footage and coerced into paying large sums to avoid public humiliation.
The Diu Police took action after receiving a tip-off about the criminal activity. A police complaint was filed against Rathod and Mansuri at the Vanakbara Coastal Police Station. Following the complaint, both men were arrested and initially placed in police remand for further interrogation. They were later moved to judicial custody at the Amreli-based jail.
In a raid on the hotel, the police seized a hidden camera that had been placed in Room 2023 and a mobile device containing the recorded video evidence. Authorities are continuing to investigate the extent of the operation, which could involve more victims.
