SP Ring Road six-laning project to include dedicated lanes for different vehicles
December 30, 2024
Gandhinagar: The Rs 2,100 crore redevelopment plan for the SP Ring Road is expected to focus on enhanced traffic management with dedicated lanes for different vehicle types and access control measures. The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) is working on expanding this 76 km highway into a six-lane road, featuring separate lanes for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, and heavy vehicles on both sides. Access control will ensure safer and more efficient traffic flow.
On the other hand, AUDA is also exploring the possibility of incorporating metro infrastructure into the redevelopment. A recent presentation highlighted traffic data, the need for increased road capacity, and future traffic growth projections. The plan includes expanding the main road to six lanes and service roads to three or four lanes, with green initiatives for sustainability. DeshGujarat
