Ahmedabad: The doctors of Asarwa Civil Hospital in the city saved a child’s life by removing a plastic whistle lodged in the child’s windpipe.
Providing details, Civil Superintendent Dr. Rakesh Joshi shared that 10-year-old Krishna, son of Jagdishbhai Bodana, a laborer residing in Ahmedabad, accidentally inhaled a plastic whistle while playing. This caused a persistent cough, prompting his parents to first take him to LG Hospital. There, an X-ray and CT scan revealed a foreign body in his windpipe, and he was subsequently referred to Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad.
The child was admitted to the Pediatric Surgery Department of Civil Hospital, where, on December 20, a team led by Dr. Jayshree Ramji, Professor of the Pediatric Surgery Department, along with Dr. Chirag Patel and Dr. Tripti Shah from the Anesthesia Department, successfully performed a bronchoscopy to remove the plastic whistle from his left main bronchus. The child recovered fully without any complications and was discharged in good health. DeshGujarat
