Rajkot MLA seeks Disturbed Area Act coverage in wards 7, 8, and 14

Rajkot: Just a few days after Rajkot West MLA Darshita Shah demanded strict enforcement of the Disturbed Areas Act in her constituency, another MLA from Rajkot South, Rameshbhai Tilara, has called for the implementation of the Act in areas of wards no. 7, 8, and 14 falling under the constituency.

In his representation to the District Collector, the BJP MLA has requested the enforcement of the Disturbed Areas Act in areas such as Prahlad Plot, Vardhman Nagar, Karanpara, Diwan Para, Soni Bazaar, and Jayraj Plot.

The letter states that all these areas are part of the old Rajkot city, where small and medium-sized businesses, as well as people from the middle class, reside. In these areas, some individuals are allegedly luring and misleading needy people into selling houses to people of other religions and settling there. This activity has the potential to disturb the peaceful and calm environment, creating a risk for the general public who wish to live in peace.

It has also been reported that some individuals from different communities are purchasing properties in others’ names through rental agreements or forged documents and settling there. After moving in, they are allegedly harassing local residents and attempting to buy nearby properties at lower prices in an effort to expand their area. A complaint regarding this issue was submitted to your office on June 21, 2023, but no action has been taken yet.

“To stop these activities and maintain peace in the area, it is urgently necessary to impose the Disturbed Area Act in these regions. I strongly recommend that a proper investigation be conducted and further action be taken to bring these areas under the Act for the safety and well-being of the public,” the MLA said in the letter.
