Gujarat govt amends policy for land allocation in GIDC estates
December 18, 2024
Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel today chaired a meeting of the State Cabinet in the state capital. During the meeting, a significant decision was made in favor of all industries, including micro, small, and medium industries, as stated by Spokesperson Minister Rishikesh Patel.
Patel stated that the process of land allotment to industries in the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) has been simplified through necessary amendments to the policy on land allotment for industrial estates.
The Spokesperson Minister explained that government waste land for industrial estates is transferred to GIDC, which then allocates this land to industries. Under the current system, the price of government land is determined by a committee led by the District Collector, and the land is allotted to GIDC at a fixed price. However, it was observed that in many cases, the land rates were higher than the existing rates.
To resolve these issues, the Gujarat government has made the land allotment process much easier. Under the Gujarat Industrial Policy-2020, government waste land will now be allotted to GIDC in three categories based on the classification by the Department of Industries and Mines. In Category-1, land will be allotted to underdeveloped GIDCs in 119 talukas at the current industrial Janti rate. In Category-2, land will be allotted to medium-developed GIDCs in 76 talukas at 125% of the existing industrial Janti rate. In Category-3, land will be allotted to developed GIDCs in 56 talukas at 150% of the existing industrial Janti rate.
He further states,”this important decision will streamline the process of allocating government waste land for industrial estates, reduce time wastage, and promote fairness in land allocation and development across all GIDCs. MSME entrepreneurs and investors will also benefit from this decision as it will provide greater flexibility and resolve some of the dilemmas and uncertainties that entrepreneurs face when making investments.” DeshGujarat
