Three new Kendriya Vidyalayas to come up in Gujarat

New Delhi: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the opening of 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) under the Civil/Defence sector across the country, as well as the expansion of one existing KV, i.e., KV Shivamogga, the Union government announced on Friday. Among these 85 new KVs, three will be established in Gujarat.

In Gujarat, Kendriya Vidyalayas will be set up in Chakkargarh (Amreli district), Ognaj (Ahmedabad district), and Veraval (Gir-Somnath district).

The total estimated funding required for the establishment of 85 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and the expansion of one existing nearby KV is approximately Rs. 5,872.08 crore, spread over eight years from 2025-26. This includes an estimated capital expenditure of Rs. 2,862.71 crore and an operational expenditure of Rs. 3,009.37 crore.

Currently, there are 1,256 functioning KVs, including three abroad (Moscow, Kathmandu, and Tehran), with approximately 13.56 lakh students enrolled in these schools. DeshGujarat
