DISH orders closure of Ankleshwar’s Detox India unit after fatal blast

Bharuch: After four workers lost their lives in a blast while working atop a feed tank at the Detox India unit in Ankleshwar GIDC on Tuesday, the Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health (DISH) issued a closure notice to the facility on Wednesday.
The Detox India Pvt Ltd unit in Ankleshwar, operated by Veolia, was inspected on Wednesday. Officials identified several safety violations related to worker protection, leading to the closure notice.
DISH issued the closure order under The Factories Act, requiring the company to comply with safety norms before resuming operations. A detailed investigation into safety violations under The Factories Act and Gujarat Factories Rules will follow, and punitive action will be taken if the company is found guilty.
Meanwhile, the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) has prepared a report for its Gandhinagar headquarters, with potential fines looming for the company following the incident. DeshGujarat
