Bardoli, Chalthan sugar factories to generate power

Surat: The Bardoli and Chalthan-based sugar factories in Surat district will not only sell sugar, bagasse, and molasses but also sell power now.
Bardoli Sugar has installed a 21 MW power generation plant, while Chalthan Sugar has installed 10 MW and 3 MW plants. Bardoli Sugar is expected to generate power worth Rs. 20 crore, while Chalthan Sugar may generate power worth Rs. 8 crore through these facilities yearly.
Bardoli, Chalthan, and Narmada sugar mills will utilize self-generated power to run their plants. The remaining power will be sold to the government. The new plants are likely to be operational in the next four months. Bardoli and Chalthan sugar mills will receive Rs. 6.61 per unit, while Narmada Sugar will earn Rs. 2.50 per unit.
